Nearly a quarter of a century after the hit film ‘The Shoe of Manitu’, fans can look forward to a sequel to the Western parody. “The Canoe of Manitu” will hit theaters in 2025, as director Michael “Bully” Herbig announced.
Herbig will direct and produce the film, Herbig and production company Constantin Film announced on Thursday in Munich.
‘The Shoe of Manitu’, a parody of the Winnetou films of the 1960s, was released in 2001. According to Constantin Film, it became the most successful German film at the time with almost twelve million cinemagoers.
Filming for “The Canoe of Manitu” is scheduled to begin this year. Herbig wrote the script together with his colleagues Christian Tramitz and Rick Kavanian, who were also involved in the previous film.
