Sundance celebrates 40 years of excellence and new talent

He Sundance Festival returns from this Thursday to the mountains of Park City (USA) with the biggest personal edition since the beginning pandemic celebrate the legacy of its first 40 years of history and continue to train and promote new creators.

It is considered one of the film events the most distinguished of NOWthe meeting takes place from 18 to 28 January in person with a virtual section available within the country from 25 to 28 of the same month.

As usual, the program shines with its diversity of topics and the gathering of projects by renowned filmmakers such as Richard Linklater (‘Before Midnight’, 1995), one of the favorite directors of the festival, who presents his film ‘Hit Man’; or director Steven Soderbergh (‘Sex, Lies and Videotape’, 1989) with the premiere of the film ‘Presence’.

This year, the works of both of them entered the list of ten The best movies which were performed for the first time in the history of the festival, along with names like that of Quentin Tarantinoor Christopher Nolan, who attends this edition as one of the honorary members opening ceremony in which he will be awarded the honorary Pioneer Award of the Sundance Institute.

But the 40th continuation of the festival also welcomes talents with shorter careers, such as Lana Wilson (‘Miss Americana’, 2020) who returns to the premiere of ‘Look Into My Eyes’, after stealing the limelight last year with the documentary ‘Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields’, or the Moroccan director Asmae ElMoudir who presents the very long-awaited ‘Mother of All lie’.

In addition, some well-known actors will show their lesser-known side, such as directorslike Jesse Eisenberg’s (‘The Social Network’, 2010) work in ‘A Real Pain’, or Chiwetel Ejiofor’s (’12 Years a Slave’, 2013) second feature film, ‘Rob Peace’, talking with Camila Cabello and Mary J. Blige in the cast.

Starring Kristen Stewart, who will be honored with the 2024 Visionary Award ‘Love me’Sam and Andy Zucher, and Ross Glass’ Love Bleeds, two of the most anticipated films in a program that includes at least 82 feature films from 24 countries.

Popular Chilean actor Pedro Pascal, one of the protagonists of the current season prizeswill walk the Sundance red carpet to talk about Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s Freaky Tales, which opens on the first day of the festival.

Hispanic and Latino stories

Sundance will also review its history by showing some of them movies the most famous that were published during his 40 years, such as “Napoleon Dynamite”, Jared Hess; ‘Go Fish’, Rose Troche; or ‘Mississippi Masala’, by Mira Nair.
