Then finally, the feature-length version of Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” is coming to Netflix – we have to wait longer than expected

In the After a film screening, two directors always come together to talk about the work just shown. The person behind the film is interviewed by a colleague. In the most recent issue, Louis Leterrier (“Fast & Furious 10”, “The Incredible Hulk”) got to question Zack Snyder about “Rebel Moon – Part 1: Child of Fire”. And of course both came up as the conversation progressed the announced longer version, which will be rated R for adults. When does it actually appear?

According to Snyder, this will happen in the summer of 2024 – and that should sober up a lot of fans. Ultimately, they hoped that the long version would be available before the release of “Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scar Maker” (Netflix launch: April 19, 2024). After all, the long version should not only provide blood, more brutality and all kinds of crazy things (hence the R rating), but also deepen the characters and the story. That might have been quite useful before the second part.

“Rebel Moon”: Netflix didn’t want its first script at all

In conversation with Leterrier, Snyder also reflects on how “Rebel Moon” came together – from the original “Star Wars” pitch to the Netflix project. He reveals that Netflix was not only very skeptical at first, but rejected the project in horror. “It is clear that we are not making a film based on the script,” those responsible told him, according to his statement, when he presented them with a 200-page script. “You basically made a live-action ‘heavy metal’ adaptation and everyone is naked in it. “That’s crazy,” they added as justification.

Then you’re there came up with the solution to simply make two versions of the ‘Rebel Moon’ films. So Snyder simply shot the versions of his first two films that Netflix wanted (“Part 1” is already available to stream), but was immediately given the resources to shoot additional scenes for his feature-length version, which is only now available and will be much later. to appear.
