After action star Gerard Butler: The cast of one of the most exciting fantasy films of the coming years continues to grow

“How to Train Your Dragon” is one of the best and most popular animated series of all time. The planned live-action film adaptation is therefore eagerly awaited. Just a few days ago, it was announced that Gerard Butler, a fan-favorite star from the original, would also reprise his role in the live-action adaptation. He had previously voiced the grumpy Viking chief Haudrauf the Stoische (in the original: Stoick the Vast) and will now take on this role again.

But the planning for the remake also seems to be making great strides, as the next notable addition to the cast has now been confirmed. As advisor to Haudrauf, Gobber the Belch, who is also the village’s gunsmith and voice of reason, was now Nick Vorst confirmed. The British actor is best known for his performances in director Edgar Wright’s legendary Cornetto trilogy (“Shaun Of The Dead”, “Hot Fuzz” and “The World’s End”).

Wait longer for the Dragon Knights

The British star is expanding the cast with ‘The Last Of Us’ star Nico Parker, who will take on the role of young Astrid. Mason Thames, who last became known to a wider audience through his performance in the horror shocker “The Black Phone”, will be seen as the son of the chief and dragon friend Hiccup.

The live-action adaptation of ‘How to Train Your Dragon’, which will once again be directed by original trilogy director Dean DeBlois, was originally scheduled to hit our theaters on March 14, 2025. But due to the double strike of authors and actors, which shut down all of Hollywood for several months in 2023, the release date of the fantasy adventure also had to be postponed. The plan is currently for the dragon riders to fly through our cinemas from June 12, 2025.

Anyone who really wants to take to the skies with the dragon riders of Berk can now find at least the first ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ part in their streaming subscription WOW*. If you want to watch the entire trilogy right away, you’ll have to pick up the physical complete box. Currently you can find this at online providers such as Amazon, where it can be purchased for just a small dollar.
