The mother’s fear that the whole windfall would disappear into thin air overnight was only made clear by the careful work of trust with the director. “I’m trapped in Leo’s world,” says his mother, “sometimes I feel like I have to get out of here. I’m afraid of the future, I’m afraid of everything, including politics.”

Another time she says, “My dreams are always about Leo, I don’t have any dreams myself.” Like Melanie. Just very different. Both depend on Leo. And Leo from them. It’s a great symbiosis we’re looking at, a world that, in the case of Leoobalys, starts with child labor and elevates years of narcissism to the sole business idea.

It is not yet known where it could end. Leo’s parents have now become influencers too, just in case. Ultimately, you have to be careful. And live your own dreams.

“Girl Gang” hits theaters October 27.
