Horror remake in the making: Perhaps the most disgusting alien invasion in cinematic history is being remade!

The blob simply cannot be killed! It’s now almost 50 years since the gelatinous creature first came to Earth – and met Hollywood legend Steve McQueen. But “Blob – Horror without a Name” (1958) was just the beginning. And the ending? That’s still a long way off!

After a sequel 14 years later with “The Blob” (1972), a remake followed in 1988, which is probably not only the best-known film adaptation of the material to this day, but also for many science fiction horror fans. (including the author of this article) is also one of the best horror remakes of all time. Can this even be surpassed? That’s exactly what we’ll soon find out, because A new “Blob” movie is in the works!

And how According to reports, Warner Bros. to have already found the perfect man to take over the director’s chair: Of David Bruckner A currently very popular horror director will take over – who has shown what he can do several times recently, but has also shown the courage to take risks here and there, which in the end not all fans liked:

Bruckner celebrated his directorial debut in 2007 with the apocalyptic horror film ‘The Signal’, directed individual chapters in the episodic shockers ‘V/H/S’ and ‘V/H/S/85’ and recently made a name for himself with his atmospheric horror film ‘The House At Night’ and the remake of Clive Barker’s ‘Hellraiser’ talk about themselves. David S. Goyer, known for his work on the scripts for “Man Of Steel,” “The Crow,” the “Dark Knight” trilogy and Bruckner’s “Hellraiser,” is on board as producer.

Handmade horror cult: this is “The Blob”

The author of this article can also offer all fans of creature features, alien invasions and handcrafted orgies with special effects the ’58 original (including on VOD Amazon Prime Video*) recommend, but especially fell in love with the remake that was released 30 years later – in which “Nightmare On Elm Street 3” director Chuck Russell has the eponymous goo attack his victims particularly mercilessly, creating a whole series of slime – Splash scenes from the tape.

But why are the ‘Blob’ films going away in the first place? Well, that’s actually a minor issue, but it’s also a short story. Because actually The films all revolve around an alien monster that makes its way to Earth with the help of a meteorite – and initially raises big questions among the population before finally attacking them. Just the sequel 1972 is a little different, when a frozen piece of the monster that has already been defused finds its way back from the North Pole to civilization to awaken to new life.

It remains to be seen to what extent David Bruckner will stick to the original with the fourth ‘Blob’ film. Details about the content are not yet known, but especially in view of Bruckner’s “Hellraiser” reorientation, it is quite conceivable that the filmmaker was able to distinguish himself here and there from the iconic original…
