The death list records two hits

“The DeathList 2024” was recorded, so far in January, two hits from his eerie list of people who might die within the year.

The Jan. 4 death of actress Glynis Johns, who played Winifred Banks (the matriarch from the 1964 film “Mary Poppins”), gave the UK chart its first hit of 2024.

Johns, who is a century old, appeared on the funeral count for the first time this year, in position number 15, and died of natural causes, his representative Mitch Clem revealed.

The death of the actress, who began her theater and film career at the end of the thirties of the last century, ended the golden age of Hollywood, and her most remembered role is undoubtedly Winifred Banks.

The next death to be added to the hit list was that of Derek Draper, a British political consultant who was embroiled in the “Lobbygate” scandal in 1998 and 2009, when he was editor of LabourList, a left-wing newspaper website.

Draper died from the long-term effects of Covid-19, struck by the disease in the first days of the pandemic, put into a coma and the longest surviving patient after 184 days in and out of intensive care.

The politician had serious complications related to the disease and died at the beginning of the month, on January 5, at the age of 56. Draper entered the macabre list this year and was in 20th place.’

The spooky publication has been published every year since 1987.

The 2023 edition was just one fatality away from setting the record in 2020, when 20 deaths out of 50 were recorded.

Predictions for 2024

The list was published on January 1, and it contains the names of 50 people, among others, from the world of variety shows, politicians, sports, who may die during the year.

This year’s edition, compiled by a selection committee, is led by Jimmy Carter, former president of the United States, making his ninth appearance on the list, which he ranked sixth in 2023.

In addition, the list includes for the first time such figures as Pope Francis, Clint Eastwood, Tom Brokaw, Daniel Barenboim, Esther Rantzen, Sly Stone, Joe Bugner, Franz Beckenbauer, among others.
