This may be what the ancient dinosaur Stenokranio boldi looked like.

During its lifetime, S. boldi was one of the top predators in the region where it was discovered, according to the Journal of Paleontology. The animal is estimated to be one and a half meters long.

As announced by the Berlin Natural History Museum, which was involved in the research, the habitat at that time should be imagined as a tropical landscape of rivers and lakes. “In the area of today’s Remigiusberg, a large river flowed into a lake about 70 kilometers long.” Animals lived on the banks and delta of the river.

The fossils were found in 2013 and 2018, but now they have been scientifically described for the first time and thus officially proven.

“Stenocranio had three pairs of large, backward-curved teeth on the palate that were used to grip slippery prey, such as fish,” the museum explained. The prey was then probably swallowed more or less completely. In terms of body shape and lifestyle, fish and carnivores had a similar ecological position to later crocodiles.

The term primitive dinosaur has nothing to do with dinosaurs as said. It is a popular collective name given to quadrupeds of ancient times. (SDA)
