Successful producer Jason Blum has once again shown in 2023 that he has a pretty sure hand for absolute hype material. It wasn’t just the video game adaptation “Five Nights At Freddy’s” that should exceed all expectations at the box office. Early last year, the puppet horror “M3GAN” attracted a lot of attention and raised many times its budget. The video portal TikTok has also made an important contribution to this.
Shortly after the theatrical release of “M3GAN”, it was already confirmed that the sequel would be released in US cinemas on January 17, 2025 (a German date has not yet been announced, but should also come soon). This will be titled “M3GAN 2.0”. In a conversation with Violet McGraw has now officially confirmed that she will be back as Cady in the sequel – and will definitely get into a lot of trouble with the AI terror doll again:
“Yes, I’m back. I’m very excited about the movie. I can’t wait to finally know what’s going to happen next. I’m happy to be working with the cast and crew again.”

It is also known that Allison Williams is back as Gemma. It is not yet known whether Gerard Johnstone will return as director and James Wan as producer, but that can be assumed. Ultimately, Jason Blum attaches great importance to continuity in his successful formats. It remains to be seen whether “M3GAN 2.0” will be a similar hit to its predecessor. As Blum once said explained that it was clear to him before the theatrical release of part 1 that a sequel had long been decided.
If you haven’t heard of M3GAN yet: The film follows robotics expert Gemma (Williams), who develops a high-tech doll equipped with advanced artistic intelligence. When the scientist takes in her niece Cady (McGraw) one day, Gemma has an idea: she takes home the prototype of the real-life M3GAN (Amie Donald) to cheer Cady up – an idea she will soon regret to get.
