Patrick Stewart has now been able to perform some form of death scene as Professor X in a Marvel film four times. He died for the first time (at least his body) in 2006’s “X-Men: The Last Stand.” The fate of death also befell him in 2014’s “X-Men: Future is Past” and in the Wolverine movie ‘Logan’ from 2017. Most recently he celebrated another MCU debut with ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ – set to die again in this comeback as Professor But that still might not be it for Stewart with Professor
Guest on the podcast He has now spoken about a possible appearance in ‘Deadpool 3’ and confirmed that there are discussions about it. He also talked about “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness” and revealed why filming was “frustrating and disappointing.”
Professor X in Deadpool 3? Maybe!
He is “confident” that his version of Professor, reveals Patrick Stewart. Maybe already in “Deadpool 3”? After all, this is a multiverse road movie with many guest stars. Since Hugh Jackman is playing Wolverine again, it would make sense to have Patrick Stewart by his side as Professor X again due to the special bond between the two characters.
It was discussed, the British acting legend now reveals in the podcast. There is a process, it remains a bit vague, but then points out a few problems. The last two to three years have been difficult with the labor issues (here he refers to the recent strikes) and before that the health issues (here he explicitly mentions COVID). He did not want to deny the question about a possible appearance in ‘Deadpool 3’. His response is, “Maybe…and it’s complicated!”
Patrick Stewart in “Doctor Strange 2”! Only!
In the podcast, he also talks about his recent appearance as Professor X, his first in the official MCU. In “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessHe was part of the Illuminati together with other figures. But he didn’t meet the other cast members by his side, as well as Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch and “Scarlet Witch” Elizabeth Olsen during filming, which wasn’t the best experience.
“I was alone. In the big scene, all the main actors had this experience. They were all shot individually. It was frustrating and disappointing. But that’s just the way it was. The past few years have been very challenging.” In this context, Stewart alludes to the COVID protection measures implemented during many film shoots.
Many productions remained completely private in a kind of bubble to reduce the chance of contamination from outside and therefore expensive cancellations of recordings. However, if people were only brought on board for short performances, for a few or perhaps even just one day, it would have been too cumbersome to first isolate them for days. Instead, they were isolated from the rest of the cast and filmed their performances separately when possible. And in a comic adaptation, where a lot of work is done with the green screen and a lot of post-production is put together on the computer, this is of course a very obvious option. After all, such individual shoots took place long before Corona, when schedules, for example, did not allow joint shooting.
“Deadpool 3”: With or without Stewart, a showcase for the guest stars
“Deadpool 3“is expected to hit theaters on July 24, 2024 and will certainly feature many stars. In addition to Ryan Reynolds in the title role and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, we will certainly see Emma Corrin (“The Crown”) as the opponent of the two heroes. There are also a number of rumors swirling about alleged Marvel cameos – from Jennifer Garner as Elektra to Ben Affleck as Daredevil, Halle Berry as Storm, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm and/or Captain America, Wesley Snipes as Blade, Tobey Maguire as Spider- Man to Taron Egerton and Daniel Radcliffe as variants of Wolverine.
Superstar Taylor Swift could also appear in a supporting role. As is known, she is very good friends with both Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy. The latter even played her father (or her alter ego Sadie Sink’s) in Swift’s short music video “All Too Well.” These are just a few of the many names in the rumor mill for “Deadpool 3.” But you have to lower your expectations. There will certainly be some surprise cameos, but probably only a fraction of the ones speculated about.
