‘Saltburn’ star Jacob Elordi only knew Elvis Presley from this Disney classic before taking on the role in ‘Priscilla’.

From today, January 4, Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla” can be seen in German cinemas and tells the little-known story of Elvis Presley’s wife Priscilla, who published her autobiography “Elvis and Me” in 1985 and describes her married life full of passion and loneliness with the music legend made public. Caliee Speany (“Mare Of Eastton”) takes on the role of Priscilla Presley, while “Saltburn” star Jacob Elordi embodies the King of Rock’n’Roll and follows in the footsteps of Austin Butler, who won’t play Elvis until 2022 Baz Luhrmann’s biopic of the same name.

While Austin Butler spent three years preparing for the demanding role and, according to his own statements, had little contact with family and friends during this time, Jacob Elordi apparently approached the task a little differently. So he revealed on the Host Jimmy Fallon said that Elvis was not on his list of people he would like to play. In fact, before working on Coppola’s indie drama, he had the most information about the music legend from a Disney film — namely “Lilo & Stitch“.

Jacob Elordi got his Elvis knowledge from “Lilo & Stitch”

The ‘Saltburn’ star told Jimmy Fallon that he learned a lot about Elvis from ‘Lilo & Stitch’: ‘Most of what I knew about Elvis came from ‘Lilo & Stitch.’ And that’s quite a lot, by the way.” Elvis is even a recurring theme in the cartoon, as Lilo is a big fan of the musician and uses him to teach Stitch how to act as a model citizen. There are five songs by the King of Rock’n’Roll on the 2002 film’s soundtrack.

When Sofia Coppola was asked for the role, it came as a surprise to Jacob Elordi: “Sofia Coppola sent me these clips saying ‘Elvis’ and I just thought, ‘That can’t be right.’ So I watched a video of him in the army in Germany and I read the lines for maybe 15 minutes and then took two takes and didn’t think anything would come of it.

Apparently he still managed to convince the director of “Lost In Translation” – and Priscilla Presley also explained after seeing the biopic herself how much Elordi’s performance reminded her of her late ex-husband. Now you can convince yourself of the ‘Saltburn’ star in the role of music icon and watch Sofia Coppola’s ‘Priscilla’ on the big screen. If, after reading the article, you feel like watching the galactic animated film ‘Lilo & Stitch’ again, you can currently find it in the Disney+ streaming offering.
