Antonio Banderas is looking for talent for his next musicals

Málaga actor Antonio Banderas, president of Teatro del Soho CaixaBank, is looking for actors, singers and dancers for the two next musical productions he will direct: ‘Tocando Nuestro Song’, premiering in June 2024, and ‘Gypsy’, which will raise the curtain in in the month of October.

Banderas, who is currently filming the movie in New York, will soon open auditions to choose the cast that will bring these two famous pieces of musical theater to life.

“They are needed actresses, actors and versatile singers to cover different profiles characters and dancers and dancers with a very good level jazz and tap,” the Soho CaixaBank Theater said in a note, stating that auditions are for performers who have worked in a minimum two professional musicals medium or large format.

Auditions in Madrid from 27 to 5 March
The auditions will take place in Madrid from February 27 to March 5.

Musical ‘Playing Our Song’ (Neil Simon, Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager), based on the successful classic Broadway from 1979, ‘They’re playing our song’, will be premiered next June at the Teatro del Soho Caixabank in Malaga.

Miquel Fernández and María Adamuz will star in the film showwhose rehearsals will begin in the spring.

‘Playing our song’ is a romantic musical comedy and the crazy story that chronicles the relationship between Vernon Gersch, a successful composer and sentimental failure, and Sonia Walsk, an unknown songwriter, hooked on toxic relationship with an ex-boyfriend whom she can’t quite let go of.

For her part, actress Marta Ribera, an expert in musical theater, will act ‘Gypsy’ playing the role of Rose. This show will be a original staging Banderas and will contain most of the original choreography Jerome Robbins.

‘Gypsy’ is considered one of the best American musicals of all time, winning six of them Tony Awards and four Laurence Olivier Awards. It premiered on Broadway in 1959, and is based on the memoirs of artist and showgirl Gypsy Rose Lee.
