Zack Snyder really just wanted to make a Superman movie. But when “Man Of Steel” came out, those responsible at Warner and DC decided to emulate their competitor Marvel. There should be a universe. Snyder scrapped his plans for Man Of Steel 2 and rethought what such a universe could look like. “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” was tackled and a two-part “Justice League” was developed. But after “Batman V Superman” did well at the box office but fell short of (way too) high expectations, the whole rescheduling process began.
First of all, only one “Justice League” movie was made, which was supposed to be a little looser than the dark battle between Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman. And as you all know, Snyder even had to hand over the project. Joss Whedon finished it, but also knocked over a lot in the process. The so-called Snyderverse never came to be. But what would it have looked like? We will tell you.
The ending of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” shows what should have happened
Not only the four-hour version of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” and the preparations already made in “Batman V Superman” provide us with information, but also the director himself, who has now commented on his plans several times in interviews.

But let’s start at the end of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” There we get a small glimpse of a bleak future. The sinister Darkseid rules Earth and Batman now teams up with the Joker (Jared Leto). The scene ties into a nightmare vision of Bruce Wayne in Batman V Superman – and Snyder intended to take the story in exactly that direction.
“Justice League 2”: The heroes lose
In “Justice League 2,” Batman and Co. taking an offensive approach to the threat posed by Darkseid. They try to beat him on his home planet… and get a beating themselves. In return, Darkseid reaches Earth and finds willing helpers there. Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) has now found the anti-life equation mentioned in “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” He has allied with the Riddler, who manages to decipher them.
They reveal to the main villain that he can use the Anti-Life Equation to control Superman. All he has to do is kill Lois Lane (Amy Adams). The Justice League learns of the plan. Batman takes it upon himself to hide and protect Lois in his cave while Superman confronts Darkseid. But Darkseid manages to escape the Kryptonian, penetrate the Bat-Cave and kill Lois, who is also pregnant. Superman can only see her death and is broken afterward. He falls under the control of Darkseid.
“Justice League 2” should then end with a jump into the future – into the world we know from the end of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”. Batman has gathered a colorful group of rebels around him. Their goal is to send Flash (Ezra Miller) back in time to defeat Darkseid
‘Justice League 3’ follows in the footsteps of ‘Avengers: Endgame’
The planned division is certainly reminiscent of Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” – especially with the time-travel plot that should have been the focus of “Justice League 3.” The first thing would have been surviving in the apocalyptic future and finding the necessary means to travel through time. Because the team needs one of the mother boxes that Cyborg (Ray Fisher) must manipulate to allow Flash to travel through time.
That’s why the Joker suddenly becomes part of the team. He is unpredictable and cannot be trusted, but he is needed. Because he not only knows where the mother box is, but also where the kryptonite is hidden, which is necessary to keep the evil Superman at bay. Of all people, cult villain Joker should be on the heroes’ side right now.

Ultimately, of course, there is successful time travel. Flash is able to warn Bruce Wayne, based on the scene from ‘Batman V Superman’, and he understands the warning well. Batman can use the information he receives to save Lois Lane, even if it means sacrificing his own life. The altered timeline means that Superman and the rest of the Justice League can unite the forces of humans, Amazons and Atlanteans to confront Darkseid and his army – just as the united defenders of Earth did many thousands of years ago (see the flashback in the Snyder Cut).
In a twist, the secret of Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) origins should be somewhat revealed. She also has Kryptonian blood. “Justice League 3” should also end with a time jump. Twenty years in the future, Superman’s powerless son takes up the mantle of Batman and restores law and order to Gotham as the surprise new Dark Knight.
Big twist with “The Flash”
Snyder’s plan likely went even further. This was revealed by Jay Oliva, who is not only behind many DC animated films, but also worked closely with Snyder and created preliminary drawings to visualize his ideas. The originally planned ‘The Flash’ film by director Rick Famuyiwa, who also worked closely with Snyder at the time, would reveal that there is an even more powerful villain behind Darkseid: Eobard Thawne, aka Reverse Flash.
He manipulated villains and heroes in the background to create this timeline that exists now. When Barry Allen realizes this, the speedster must stop his nemesis… and creates a whole new universe in the process. In a free adaptation of the comic strip ‘Flashpoint’, nothing would ultimately have been the same.

Snyder saw this as the perfect ending. Because at the end of “The Flash” there would have been a new world with a new Batman, new Superman, new Wonder Woman, etc. Snyder’s story would have found a full-circle ending, and at the same time, a reboot would have already paved the way for a completely new saga.
We will probably never get this Snyderverse – even though some fans continue to dream that the streaming service Netflix will take over the rights and let Snyder tell his story. That’s probably unrealistic. DC, on the other hand, is undergoing a reboot. James Gunn now wants to tell a coherent story with the DCU.
