Sassicaia is considered one of the most famous wineries not only in Italy, but in the world. This is a red wine from Tuscany made from two grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Robert Parker (75), now retired and once the most influential wine critic in the world, caused a real earthquake in the wine world with his maximum score of 100 points. This is the first time an Italian wine has reached this dream note. As a result, the demand for wine increased rapidly and this was reflected in the market price.

The 1,000 franc barrier was quickly broken. However, many restaurants with wine on the wine list did not notice the price increases and continued to offer wine for as low as 200 francs per bottle. There are approximately 60 offers for a 1985 Sassicaia on the current world market. The majority of the wines are sold in specialist wine shops, in addition to a few auction bottles whose final auction price has yet to drop. The price currently starts at around 2,500 francs per regular bottle of 0.75 liters. The prices of rare 1.5 liter magnum bottles are around 7,000 francs. Guido W. could have sold the bottle at a wine auction or at various wine dealers.
