“I Hope They’re Mad About It”: ‘Reacher’ Star Explains How a ‘Theft’ Makes the Season 2 Action Even Better

The second season of ‘Reacher’ is also a big hit. For lead actor Alan Ritchson, the action scenes have even been improved. You could build on the experiences from the first season and make a number of decisions based on that.

He credits one person in particular for the better action: “We have brought a new stunt double on board.” They didn’t just hire a stuntman for the second season of ‘Reacher,’ as Ritchson said in an interview with explained…

Ryan Tarran – “Stolen” by Jason Momoa, Chris Hemsworth and Co.

“Ryan Tarran is one of the best. And I stole it from some of the best actors around. I hope they’re angry about that. I hope they feel the loss, regret and shame of letting him go.”

Tarran, who stands at over 6-foot-4 and weighs 220 pounds, is visually perfect to replace Ritchson’s reacher in dangerous action situations. He previously doubled for Chris Hemsworth (in “Thor: Ragnarok”) and, most importantly, repeatedly for Jason Momoa (including in “Aquaman,” “Frontier,” “See,” “Sweet Girl” and “Slumberland”). But the stars recently teamed up with other stunt people, which Ritchson took advantage of.

He is so enthusiastic about Tarran that he is taking him to his next film. Tarran is also set to star opposite ‘Reacher’ star Alan Ritchson in Guy Ritchie’s spy actioner ‘The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare’, expected to be released in 2024.

In an interview with the The actor also highlights what Tarran does so well and why the second season of ‘Reacher’ is even better than the first season:

“He [Tarran] has taken the action scenes that I have – the precision, the purity of the fighting – to a level that can’t even be compared to season 1.”

…and Alan Ritchson improved

But “Reacher” protagonist Alan Ritchson has also personally benefited from Tarran’s expertise. According to his own statement, the actor worked every spare minute with the expert, either at the stunt facility or in Tarran’s garden, to learn and refine his own movements so that he can do as much as possible himself. Tarran only needs to intervene if there is a higher risk of injury.

According to Ritchson, it worked always about “improving what the audience deserves to see: authentic combat, performed by me as Reacher. “I’m always looking for ways to get better and now I have someone to help me,” he concludes, praising his new stunt double.

He even promises further improvements for the already announced third season. Training with Tarran continues. Over the years, “what we can do with Reacher will get even better.”
