The success of the Bavarian village police officer Eberhofer is almost frightening. ‘Rehragout-Rendezvous’ continued the successful series of Eberhofer criminal cases in cinemas in 2023, as each new film in the series managed to attract more viewers to the cinemas upon release than its predecessor.
A trend that is also reflected in the overall box office, because with each successive film outing the crime series has been able to win more fans and set new records – and so it is not surprising that the latest installment has become the most successful film in history. the series. In total, nearly 1.53 million Eberhofer junkies willing to pay flocked to the cinemas to see the local policeman solve his new tough case in ‘Rehragout-Rendezvous’. For comparison: The most successful part to date was its immediate predecessor “Guglhupfgeschwader”, which attracted no fewer than 1.37 million people to the cinemas.
This makes “Rehragout-Rendezvous” the second most successful German film production of the year – and has only just begun to keep up with the cult detectives of Rocky Beach and their latest film adaptation “The Three ??? – Heir of the Dragon”.
“Rehragout-Rendezvous” new in the home cinema: individually or as a complete box
Anyone who wants to experience the charming criminal cases again and again in the home cinema or wants to put the whole Eberhofer madness under the Christmas tree at Christmas can do so from today, December 18. The “Eberhofer Neiner Gaudi” box offers the possibility of this. This (optional if DVD* or Blu Ray*available) Collection box contains, in addition to the previous eight parts, also the newest box “deer ragout rendezvous”. If you can no longer get the set on Amazon, you can contact: Media Markt* dodge.

And if you already have all the previous parts on the shelf and just want to buy the latest cinema success from the series, you now have the option to purchase “venison ragout rendezvous” separately Blu Ray* or DVD* acquire. We have a clear recommendation: In the FILMSTARTS review Editor-in-chief Christoph Petersen gave it a good 3.5 out of 5 possible stars – and if he had his way, case nine would be far from over:
What’s next for the Eberhofer series?
But unfortunately it is possible that despite all the box office successes, ‘Rehragout-Rendezvous’ will actually remain the last part of the successful crime film series and that the current complete box set will actually be complete. Rita Falk, the author of the book, expressed clear criticism of the ‘deer ragout rendezvous’ in an interview with Spiegel. It is no longer certain that she wants to continue working with distributor Constantin and director Ed Herzog, who was previously responsible for all parts (who has also been responsible for the scripts since ‘Winterkartoffelknödel’).
Even if no agreement is reached with the author, fans are still hopeful that the series will continue: Apparently Constantin Film has the options for the novels “Zwetschgendatschikomplott” and “Weißwurstconnection”. These have so far been skipped and only partially included in Eberhofer’s other crime novels. It is therefore possible that the studio will not film the most recent novel ‘Steckerlfischfiasko’, but will first catch up on the parts skipped in between.
Of course, we hope that an agreement is somehow reached with author Rita Falk – because a new film without the creator’s blessing would feel out of place. The only thing that is certain so far is that no new crimes will be solved in Niederkaltenkirchen in 2024.
