“I might make three or four more movies”: Nicolas Cage talks about the end of his big-screen career

Since the early 1980s, Nicolas Cage has appeared in more than 100 films. The works in which the cult star has appeared so far cover the entire spectrum of quality – from complete failures to real masterpieces. But even though Cage has appeared quite often in second-rate direct-to-DVD material in recent years, his popularity should not diminish – on the contrary!

Instead, Cage, who won the Oscar for Best Actor for ‘Leaving Las Vegas’, is now more popular than ever – also because he managed to strengthen cucumbers such as ‘Outcast’, ‘Arsenal’ or ‘Tokarev’ with his uninhibited, expressive acting . Yes, Cage is a real thoroughbred actor who always gives everything. That’s why it’s sad for many that the actor is in talks with the has now announced the end of his career in the film sector:

The end of an era?

“Maybe I’ll make three or four more films. I feel like I said everything I had to say in the cinema. I think I’ve taken my cinematic achievements as far as I can go. I want to be much stricter in my selection process. I want to say goodbye at the summit.”

The fact that Cage made this decision is related to the death of his father, who died at the age of 75. Cage, who will soon turn 60, estimates he has only fifteen years left: “What do I want to do with the remaining fifteen years? […] I realized that I wanted to spend time with my family. I am starting to shape my future plans.”

Not a cinema, but a series?

But there is still a loophole: even if he wants to give up his film career after three or four films, he is still interested in trying new areas of acting. He could also imagine joining a series, something he has never done before in his more than four decades of working in the entertainment industry.

So it will be interesting to see where Nicolas Cage will go in the future: whether he will actually stop making films and star in a series, or whether he will eventually change his mind and continue making films (even if it is no longer, just as productive as before). The next time we will see Cage in this country will be on February 8, 2024 in the satire “Dream scenarioon the big screen.
