Legendary cinema moments back on the big screen: these are the film highlights of the first half of 2024 at ‘Best Of Cinema’

We at FILMSTARTS love great cinematic moments with great passion. It is therefore logical that we support the ‘Best Of Cinema’ series. Every first Tuesday of the month a classic is brought back to the big screen. Hundreds of cinemas are participating in film distributor StudioCanal’s campaign to let you enjoy milestones, cult films and masterpieces again.

It has now been announced which films will return to cinemas in the first half of 2024. By the way: many of the selected films shown in the “Best Of Cinema” series have even been restored in 4K and therefore shine on the screen in new splendor for the first time.

These are the new titles in the 2024 “Best Of Cinema” series

January 2nd: “Pact of Wolves – the wild mix of martial arts, horror fairy tales and whodunnit is a must for anyone who loves brutally staged genre cinema who also likes to play by their own rules.

February 6: “The Fifth Element – the brightly colored and highly entertaining science fiction epic by “Léon – The Professional” creator Luc Besson is one of the absolute highlights of his profession. Thanks to 4K restoration, you can now experience the spectacular effects as sharply as never before in the cinema.

March 5th: “Donnie Darko – Many of you may consider the coming-of-age mystery drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal as one of your absolute favorite films. After the film failed to appear in German cinemas in the early 2000s, you can now finally admire the masterpiece on the big screen.

April 2: “The Baader Meinhof complex – Uli Edel’s RAF Chronicle with Moritz Bleibtreu, Martina Gedeck and Johanna Wokalek is an absolutely good example of what great and moving political cinema from Germany can look like.

May 7: “The doors – “Platoon” creator Oliver Stone took over the life of “The Doors” frontman Jim Morrison with the energetic biopic and not only showed an exciting authenticity in the concert scenes. But the real sensation is probably lead actor Val Kilmer in the role of his life.

June 4: “the moved man – Sönke Wortmann’s adaptation of Ralf Richter’s comic has now become an absolute cult! Those who have not yet seen the enchantingly entertaining, precisely written comedy starring Til Schweiger and Joachim Król can now watch it on the big screen.
