There are certainly not a few young actors who dream of one day being as popular and successful as Brad Pitt. But More than 35 years ago, Brad Pitt himself was a young actor who still had a big career ahead of him and wanted to emulate his favorite star.
The American-American quoted one of the very first interviews the Fight Club star did with the teen magazine in 1986 LED. In it, the only 22-year-old Brad Pitt answers a typical question during a job interview: “Where do you see yourself in ten years?”
“In ten years I will be 32,” said the actor. “I’m hoping to get married and get some Brad Juniors. I would like to be in a position like Kevin Costner are. He is at the top and respected as an actor. I just want to be a respected actor.”
One of Brad Pitt’s wishes came true ten years later
It took a few years longer until his first marriage: only in 2000 did Pitt enter into his first marriage with ‘Friends’ star Jennifer Aniston, who, however, remained childless. However, his career wishes were fully fulfilled 10 years later: In 1996, he received his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for the science fiction film “12 Monkeys” and won for David Fincher’s classic thriller “Seven” or “Interview with a Vampire” (alongside Tom Cruise). He already had several cinema hits that earned him a lot of respect and paved his way to world stardom.
Kevin Costner left his great days behind him with the 90s: Of course he is still a household name, but after having a real string of box office successes with ‘Dances with Wolves’, ‘JFK – Tatort Dallas’, ‘Robin Hood – King of Thieves’ and of course ‘Bodyguard’, his career took off star later noticeably deteriorate. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, is one of the biggest and highest-paid Hollywood stars ever, even after almost forty years, and has long since surpassed his idol.
