While the onset of winter in many regions tempts people to simply curl up in front of the television and see what the streaming providers have to offer, the cinema is also attracting some exciting new releases. This week there is a colorful program in which every film lover should find something to their liking – from torture horror to animated musicals. “Saw X”
We have now reached the tenth theatrical entry in the torture porn series “Saw”. And after the latest offshoots in particular have increasingly lost quality, the franchise seems to be getting back on its old track of success with the latest part. So far, “Saw X“ has already grossed over $106 million on a production budget of $13 million – and its release in Germany and Austria is still pending. Furthermore – and this is important information for all the torturers and maids currently struggling with the idea of whether to solve a horror movie card – “Saw X” is also really good in terms of quality.

“Wish”
All Disney fanboys and girls will get their money’s worth with “Wish.” The latest animated film from the mouse studio not only looks incredibly beautiful and is reminiscent of fairy tales from the last days of the 19th century, but is also an entertaining treasure hunt through 100 years of Disney. If you want to find all the allusions here, you will definitely have to see the film more often. And of course – as befits a real Disney animation hit – there is plenty of singing again.

“Godzilla Minus One”

If you haven’t found what you’re looking for yet with torture horror, monster action, or an animated musical, you might find what you’re looking for in the other reboots. “The siren“ is an autobiographical animated film from Iran. Director Sepideh Farsi has created a film that oscillates between magical realism and the brutal horror of war, telling a deeply humanistic story about the nature of war (FILMSTARTS review: 3.5 out of 5 stars)
In “Rebel – In the grip of terror“ is about the brothers Kamal (Aboubakr Bensaihi) and Nassim (Amir El Arbi), who grew up in the problem neighborhood of Brussels-Molenbeek. While Kamal moved to Syria months ago to fight against Assad, Nassim stayed home with his mother.
