This Friday, Queen Letizia will close the XVI Language and Journalism Seminar “Climate change: language and communication”, which takes place in the municipality of San Millán de la Cogolla, in the Spanish province of La Rioja, with the presence of lawyers, professors, journalists, activists, experts and disseminators.
Doña Letizia will attend the presentation of the conclusions by seminar participantsorganized by the San Millán de la Cogolla Foundation and the FundéuRAE Urgent Spanish Foundation, founded by the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) and the EFE Agency.
Before closing, the program of this meeting, which started this Thursday, includes a round table on the language of the media, which will be moderated by a mathematician from the University of La Rioja (northern Spain) and popularizer Eduardo Sáenz from Cabezon.
Among the participants of this last debate table are i director of EFEFerde, Arturo Larena; coordinator of the climate and environment section of El País newspaper, Clemente Álvarez; the head of science and environment of El Mundo newspaper, Teresa Guerrero; and journalist specialized in environment and social sciences from Sinc (FECYT) Eva Rodríguez.
The final session of the seminar, with a few minutes intervention of each participantwill be led by FundéuRAE President and RAE Director, Santiago Muñoz Machado.
At the closing ceremony, the Queen of Spain will accompany the President Government of the Spanish region of La Rioja and from the San Millán de la Cogolla Foundation, Gonzalo Capellán; and Muñoz Machado.
This seminar, which was opened this Thursday by the president of the EFE Agency, Gabriela Cañas; and La Rioja’s Minister of Culture, José Luis Pérez Pastor, allowed environmental experts to discuss and analyze how agents involved in responding to climate change use language.
During the first day of meeting Questions related to “Expert understanding: the first link of change” were put on the table; “From Words to Environmental Action: Activism and Outreach”; and “Change, Crisis or Emergency: The Role of Language in Environmental Information.”
