HIV, for early detection

What is HIV? It is the virus that causes AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome), it can hide in the body for many years before symptoms appear.

This silently kills part of the immune system, so the goal is to detect HIV before symptoms appear.

This early detection is achieved through analyses routinethat way, people will know they’re infected and can get treatment, explains Dr. Stacey Rizza, an infectious disease expert and researcher at HIV at the Mayo Clinic.

According to the expert, “the problem with HIV is that it kills the part our immune cellscalled CD4″.

“And that makes people are susceptible to infections and different types of cancer,” says Dr. Rizza.

“It can hide in the body in a state latent for years. And that’s why it’s so hard to cure HIV.”

“People may feel good, but they slowly live with it virus which kills part of your immune system,” adds Dr. Rizza.

“And, when it is immune system weak, people get significant and serious infections and develop various types of cancer,” he said.

Although great progress has been made in the fight against HIV AIDSremains a common disease worldwide, says Dr. Rizza.

According to World Health Organization, In the world, about 39 million people live with HIV infection.

Signs

HIV can be transmitted through sexual contact, sharing needles infectedcontact with infected blood, and less often it can be transmitted from mother to child.

dr. Rizza claims many people don’t know they have it HIV and that it is therefore important to have routine screening examinations.
