The cast of “Superman: Legacy” is growing: the perfect actor for Superman’s best friend has been found!

“Superman: Legacy” is without a doubt one of the most interesting comedy blockbusters of the coming years. Not only because James Gunn (“Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3”) will direct, but also because the film should prove to be a milestone for the new DC universe on the big screen. When it comes to casting, Gunn once again proves that his talent for terrifyingly ideal casting is simply fantastic.

While David Corenswet will appear as Clark Kent aka Superman, Rachel Brosnahan will portray his great love Louis Lane and Nicholas Hoult will play the main villain Lex Luthor. So far, so familiar. It has now also been announced who will take on the role of Jimmy Olsen, Clark Kent’s colleague and best friend: the one known to others from “Vacation” and “Booksmart”. Skyler Gisondo. And the choice is simply visually perfect, but see for yourself:

If you’re wondering who Jimmy Olsen is, the character was introduced as a supporting character in the Superman comics. Olsen works as a photographer at the Daily Planet and this is where he meets Lois Lane and Clark Kent. The trio regularly hunts for headlines together and Olsen grows up to be Clark Kent’s friend. In 1954, Jimmy Olsen even got his own spin-off series, “Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen,” which focused on him and his experiences with Superman. Production of the comic stopped in 1974.

Incidentally: Not only Skyler Gisondo has been confirmed as a new cast member of “Superman: Legacy”. Portuguese model Sara Sampaio also appears as Eve Tschmacher. In the comics this is Tschmacher by Lex Luthor. Sampaio previously starred with Gary Oldman, Armie Hammer, Evangeline Lilly, Lily-Rose Depp and Michelle Rodriguez in the thriller ‘Crisis’, among others.

“Superman: Legacy” is expected to premiere in German cinemas on July 10, 2025.
