Antonio Banderas and Nicole Kidman to star in ‘Babygirl’

Spanish actor Antonio Banderas and American actress Nicole Kidman will star in the erotic thriller ‘Babygirl’ by Dutch director Halina Reijn for studio A24.

The film, written by Reijn herself, examines power dynamics and sexuality in the workplace through the story of a powerful executive, played by Kidman (‘Moulin Rouge!’ – ‘Love in Red’, 2001), who begins a forbidden relationship with an intern, played by Harris Dickinson (‘Triangle of Sorrow’, 2022), was announced by the American media this Tuesday.

flags (“The Mask of Zorro” – “The Mask of Zorro”1998) will play the director’s wife, doc Sophie Wilde (‘Talk to Me’, 2022) will play an assistant who will witness the developing relationship.

Filming in New York

The movie will start recordings in NY starting in December.

This is the second time that Reijn is part of a project by the production company A24, responsible for recently awarded titles such as “Everything everywhere and at once” (‘Everything everywhere at the same time’) which triumphed during the last edition Oscar with seven statuettes, after horror movie and comedy ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’ (‘Death, death, death’) (2022).

Before this film, Reijn made his directorial debut with ‘Instinct’, which followed a psychologist specializing in sexual themes who falls in love with his patient, the aggressor who is in jail.

The cast of ‘Babygirl’ also includes Jean Reno (‘León: The Professional’ – ‘El Profesional’), David Hinojosa as producer and Julia Oh, Zach Nutman and Christine D’Souza Gelb as executive producers.

This year, A24 acquired television rights to Paris Hilton’s new memoir and is developing the novel ‘Magnolia Parks’ by Jesse Hastings.

Furthermore, during the Hollywood actors’ and writers’ strike, the production company reached a temporary agreement with SAG-AFTRA to complete production of ‘Opus’ and ‘Death Unicorn’, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega.
