Pop superstar Taylor Swift (“Anti-Hero”) and country singer Morgan Wallen (“Last Night”) are the big winners of the Billboard Music Awards. Swift won ten awards during the awards ceremony on Sunday evening (local time), including prizes in the most important category ‘Top Artist’, as the most successful female songwriter and as a country artist.
Wallen even won eleven awards, including best album of the year for “One Thing at a Time,” male artist and country singer. In addition to Swift and Wallen, SZA, Canadian rapper Drake and American country singer Luke Combs also competed in the main category, ‘Top Artist’.
The Billboard Awards have been presented annually since 1990 by the trade magazine of the same name and are largely based on charts in the US. The prizes were announced online.
Germany’s Kim Petras was nominated in two of the 69 categories, but came away empty-handed. Rhineland native Petras lost to Beyoncé with “Renaissance” in the Top Dance/Electronic Album category with her album “Feed the Beast.” As a top collaboration, she had to beat winner Metro Boomin, The Weeknd & 21 Savage (“Creepin”) for “Unholy” with British singer Sam Smith.
