The Horror: “Megalomaniac” & “Thanksgiving”

Megalomaniac“ is one of the toughest and dirtiest films of the year, the trade press almost agrees on this point. At the center of the story are the two siblings Felix (Benjamin Ramon) and Martha (Eline Schumacher), who were conceived through rape. Today, they live in the home of the serial killer known as the “Butcher,” who once impregnated their mother – living a seemingly destined existence of neglect. And that’s not all: while Martha tries to live as inconspicuously as possible, Felix slowly begins to follow in his father’s footsteps…

Of “Thanksgiving“On the other hand, 15 years after Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s double feature ‘Grindhouse’, a fake trailer becomes a real movie. “Machete” did it a few years ago, now Eli Roth (“Hostel”) is trying his luck – and quite successfully. At least if we get our way. Our author Stefan Geisler gave the “holiday ‘Scream’ with an extra portion of blood and guts” no less than 3 stars in the review.
