Denzel Washington, in a film based on the warrior Hannibal

Denzel Washington will star in and produce the film directed by Antoine Fuqua based on the story of the card warrior Hannibal, Netflix announced this Monday.

The screenplay was written by John Logan, responsible for titles such as “Gladiator” (2000), “Aviator” (2004) and “Skyfall” (2012), and will be produced by Hill District Media, for which Fuqua is responsible, in association with Netflix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Washington is in talks to return to work on Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2.
