“My unparalleled favorite series”: Quentin Tarantino is an avid fan of this Netflix horror hit

Quentin Tarantino is not only the creator of cult hits such as ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Kill Bill’ or ‘Django Unchained’, he is also an avid film fan who repeatedly gives his opinion in interviews about new and old works from film history – and regularly flubs the flag in front of the cinema.

Yet Tarantino also has a close relationship with the format of the television series: For example, he said in an interview that the sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’ is his absolute favorite series. He also directed individual episodes of ‘Emergency Room’ and ‘CSI’, had a small role in ‘Golden Girls’ – and, if you will, his latest film to date is ‘Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood’ . not, as is often claimed, a declaration of love for the cinema, but rather an ode to the TV series from his youth.

Quentin Tarantino doesn’t like Netflix, but he also loves this horror series

But what does Tarantino think about streaming services like Netflix, where many of his colleagues – from Martin Scorsese to Jane Campion to David Fincher – are now releasing their new films? And which ones are flooded with new series every week, only a fraction of which actually generates a response?

Unsurprisingly, Tarantino isn’t a big Netflix fan, as he told us confirmed: “No offense, but apparently Ryan Reynolds made $50 million for Netflix for this movie, $50 million for that movie and $50 million for the next movie,” the “Inglourious Basterds” director said. “I don’t know what kind of films they are (…) I mean, good for him because he makes so much money. But these films don’t exist in the zeitgeist. It’s almost as if they don’t even exist.”

However, there are at least two exceptions: “Haunted of Hill Houseby Mike Flanagan, who recently produced another horror series for the streamer with “The Fall of the House of Usher” – as well as the historical miniseries “The Queen’s Gambitwhich became a big surprising success in 2020.

Tarantino revealed this in an interview with , where, contrary to previous statements, he even described ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ as his ‘unparalleled favorite series’. This puts Tarantino in good company: star author Stephen King is also an avid fan of the series and, among other things, called it a “stroke of genius”.
