Sci-fi fantasy for fans of “Star Wars” & Co.: New trailer for Zack Snyder’s Netflix epic “Rebel Moon: Child of Fire”

“Rebel Moon” Isn’t Just Something “Star Wars” Fans Will Enjoy — It Should Be a “Star Wars” Movie ! ‘Justice League’ director Zack Snyder once presented his idea to George Lucas to make a ‘Star Wars’ spin-off. The two couldn’t reach an agreement – and now the story of ‘Rebel Moon’ sees the light of day on Netflix, as an independent franchise that initially includes two films and may later be expanded with further installments, series and comics.

Rebel Moon Part 1: Child of Fire‘coming to Netflix on December 22, 2023. The epic trailer will immediately make you want to see the space adventure on the big screen – although no advance theatrical releases of “Rebel Moon” are planned in this country. Snyder’s saga opener will be in four theaters around the world for one week only.

“Rebel Moon Part 2” will follow in April 2024

“Rebel Moon 2: The Scar Maker” already has a start date. The sequel comes to Netflix on April 19, 2024. So just four months later – and that just screams that Part 1 will end on a cliffhanger that fans will be eagerly waiting and discussing for four months. Be surprised!

But what we already know: The story of ‘Rebel Moon’ would actually have fit quite well into the ‘Star Wars’ universe. Because this is also about a tyrannical empire that uses military force to spread fear and terror across the galaxy and demands obedience – including from the peaceful inhabitants of the remote moon Veldt, which one day draws the attention of ruler Balisarius and his henchmen.

Kora (Sofia Boutella), who lives in Veldt and has a mysterious past, does not want to stand idly by as the government threatens her home. She wants to take on Balisarius and gathers a motley crew around her in the style of ‘David vs. Goliath’ wants to end tyranny.

In addition to ‘The Mummy’ star Sofia Boutella, the film also stars Ed Skrein, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Jena Malone, Bae Doona, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman, Cary Elwes and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of robot Jimmy.
