That’s what the ‘Hunger Games’ series with Jennifer Lawrence is about

The North America of the future is divided into twelve districts and the Capitol after a civil war, the Dark Days. To remind the rebellious districts of the horrors of war, the wealthy Capitol annually hosts the Hunger Games, in which one male and one female tribute from each district fight to the death in an arena, while the rest of the country watches via television broadcasts .

At the harvest of the 74th Hunger Games, young Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers as a tribute from District 12 to protect her younger sister and is from then on guided by mentor Haymitch (Woody) along with the male tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson, Harrelson) was preparing for the games. In the arena, Katniss and Peeta finally learn about the treacherous brutality of the games and the structures of Panem with their president Snow (Donald Sutherland) as they fight for their lives.

Action, politics and love – the ‘Hunger Games’ series is still relevant

While we were used to seeing passive heroines in the cinema from young adult franchises like ‘Twilight’.the ‘Hunger Games’ film series has finally focused on a complex protagonist with Katniss Everdeen, who can stand up for himself. The history of the Hunger Games and the state of Panem is a complex web in which political undertones are always present and the meaning of war and totalitarianism is questioned.

In addition to action-packed fight scenes and impressive dystopian backgrounds, the films also offer us a gripping love story with a love triangle., the team makes Edward or Jacob very far away. In addition to the main characters Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, the series is still waiting with an array of stars in the supporting roles – including Woody Harrelson as mentor Haymitch, Liam Hemsworth as Katniss’ friend Gale, Elizabeth Banks as caregiver Effie, Sam Claflin as All Star tribute Finnick, Philipp Seymour Hofmann as the main playmaker of the later parts, Stanley Tucci as host Ceasar Flickerman and Julianne Moore as Rebellion President Coin.

The first two parts of the series in particular are full of inventiveness and clever storytelling, while the two “Mockingjay” parts unfortunately run out of steam because they are divided into two films. Despite The ‘Hunger Games’ series remains an asset to the science fiction and fantasy genre to this day. But check it out for yourself before the prequel “The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes” hits theaters next week.
