Noticed in season 2 of “Loki”? Episode 5 may provide further clues as to the TVA’s origins

The Time Variance Authority is certainly THE lynchpin of the MCU series “Loki”. The organization watches over the different timelines in the multiverse and tries (or tried) to clean up the branching timelines to preserve the true timeline. The TVA itself is still a big mystery, even if we’ve gotten at least some answers to burning questions in the eleven episodes of “Loki” so far.

For example, we now know that the TVA was founded by the Kang version of The One Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) and exists outside of space and time to do its work. But how did it come to be this way in the first place? And is that really so? An exciting parallel in the latest ‘Loki’ episode fuels some theories about the organization’s origins…

The TVA is on site…

Did you notice that? When we enter the 1994 workshop of science fiction author and physics professor AD Doug, the original alter ego of TVA expert Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan), the place seems strangely familiar. And indeed: The workplace bears a striking resemblance to OB’s later TVA office, as you can see again in this comparison photo:

Does this possibly mean we’ll see the site where the TVA will later be built?, perhaps piece by piece, starting from OB’s workplace? Perhaps it is not without reason that Doug points out that his workshop is extremely remote and that there is nothing else in the area. However, that would mean that the TVA is (more or less) normally on Earth.

…or in a pocket format, co-created by OB?

It would also be conceivable (and probably more appropriate given the special properties of the TVA) that the TVA exists in its own small pocket dimension, i.e. a spatially limited parallel world with its own rules. (like the mystical world of Ta Lo from “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings”). Given the similarity of the two places mentioned, this could possibly have been partly designed by OB.

The fact that he built his office after the model of his former workshop could be a further indication that the TVA staff subconsciously still have traces of their former existence, despite the erasure of their memories. This is evident, for example, in Mobius (Owen Wilson) and his fascination with jet skis, which he sold and owned as his original alter ego Don.

It remains to be seen if the remaining questions about the TVA will ever be answered or if it will remain a residual mystery. In any case, the focus of the second ‘Loki’ season finale, set to release on November 10, 2023, will likely be elsewhere, as Loki (Tom Hiddleston) tries to change the past to prevent the collapse. of the TVA and the different timelines.

But even if “Loki” doesn’t get a third season after that, it probably won’t be the last time we see the TVA in the MCU’s current multiverse saga. Rumor has it that she will play a very central role in the multiverse chaos that awaits us in “Deadpool 3” in 2024.
