Even four years after the end of ‘Game Of Thrones’, the stars of the groundbreaking fantasy series are still asked about the subject. A particularly popular question: what do the actors and actresses think about the eighth season and the finale of the hit series, which are controversial among fans? Also Cersei actress Lena Headey looked back at the series phenomenon again.
As part of the upcoming premiere of her feature film debut ‘The Trap,’ starring her ‘GoT’ co-star Michelle Fairley, Lena Headey spoke with Hollywood reporter also about the ending of “Game Of Thrones”. The actress has repeatedly said that she wanted different decisions for her character Cersei Lannister in the final season, such as a fight scene or a “better death”.
Lena Headey wanted a different ending
For a woman like Cersei, who had made a number of enemies all over Westeros, her death surprisingly did not come at the hands of an opponent, but was simply killed by stones – along with her brother and lover Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).
When asked what storyline she would have liked to have had for Cersei instead, the filmmaker replied: that she and [Arya-Stark-Darstellerin Maisie Williams] had dreamed of a confrontation between Cersei and Arya. “That [Arya] when Jaime would come back. That was our dream. But they made different decisions.”
This obviously means that Arya would have appeared with Jaime’s face and therefore looked like him – which Arya can do after her training in Braavos in the House of Black and White.
Not a new idea, but it still seems to bother Lena Headey
This isn’t the first time this idea for an alternate ending has been floated. Maisie Williams has had one too talked about the fantasy she and Headey shared, and that she would have been shocked that it hadn’t turned out that way in the end. In her imagination, Arya would have revealed her true identity to Cersei at the last moment, making it clear that she intended to kill Cersei until the end, and both would have died. Instead, Arya Stark survived and sailed away to the west.
