Meryl Streep and her husband have split

For 45 years, Meryl Streep and her husband Don Gummer were considered Hollywood’s dream couple. But now their love seems to finally be over. The 74-year-old surprisingly announced her divorce. They have been going their separate ways for years.

“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been divorced for more than six years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen to live separate lives,” a spokesperson for the actress told American media “Page Six”. Fans of the actress may be surprised. She is said to have recently appeared at a public event wearing her wedding ring. Their last appearance together was at the 2018 Oscars.

The actress and the sculptor met in 1978 through her brother, who introduced them. At the time, Gummer was a great support to her as the actress mourned her friend and actor John Cazale, who died of lung cancer.

Meryl Streep and Don Gummer have four adult children and five grandchildren. In addition to their Connecticut farm, they shared a sprawling loft in Tribeca, New York City, before selling it for $15.8 million in January 2020. Streep then purchased a four million dollar home in Pasadena, California in July 2020.

The actress broke through with the television series ‘Holocaust’ and the cinema production ‘Kramer gegen Kramer’. The three-time Oscar winner celebrated internationally with the film ‘The Devil Shapes Prada’, in which she played editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, who made her assistant’s life hell.
