Warning, spoilers for episode 9 of Game Of Thrones: House Of The Dragon. Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) has been observing Queen Alicent in a rather intrusive way for several episodes. The Queen has also been asked about it several times, including at the funeral of Laena Velaryon (Nanna Blondell). So it was clear that Larys admires the Queen and probably has a sexual obsession with her too – and now we know what that nature is too.
Larys Strong has a foot fetish. And to inform Alicent (Olivia Cooke) about the secret goings-on in King’s Landing and “solve” her problems for her (in Episode 9 the spy known as the White Worm kills Mysaria), pays the queen him with the satisfaction of his fetishes: Alicent makes Larys look at her bare feet as he masturbates himself.
The fact that Larys is obsessed with feet seems to be due to the deformity of his own feet, at least that’s what the cut in episode 9, “The Green Council” suggests. As Larys stumbles into the queen’s chambers, the camera rests meaningfully on his clubfoot for a few seconds. He hints that he knows a secret and waits for Alicent to sit down with a sigh and take off her shoes, and later her stockings.
The fact that Larys has a foot fetish is of course all his business and in itself not a big deal – only he uses his knowledge of secrets as leverage to extort sexual favors from Alicent. As a servant of the Crown, currently in the capacity of Lord Confessor (a sort of chief torturer) and later Master of the Whisperers, his services were not allowed to be purchased. But Larys tried to blackmail the queen from the start: when Larys has his father and brother killed in Harrenhal and convinces Alicent that she ordered it, he makes it clear to the queen that he has them in his hands – and now we also know what he wants from her.
Of course, it’s all a social media feast: on Twitter, many viewers reacted to this scene, wondering on the one hand about Larys’ fetish and why “House Of The Dragon” would force her to do such a thing on the one hand. others to watch. Many expressed their disgust on the spot.
