Even yacht owners find themselves in difficult situations from time to time. Unfortunately, shopping options on the high seas are a bit limited. Drone testing by Swedish company Kookiejar in collaboration with drone manufacturer MC CLIC and Superyacht Supplies, a company responsible for yacht supply, recently tested drone delivery off the coast of Monaco.
As “The Drinks Business” magazine reported, the breezy test delivery to the 73-meter-long motor yacht Coral Ocean included a bottle of Dom Pérignon 2008 champagne, a 500-gram tin of caviar, a perfume and a luxury watch. After a one-kilometer flight, the delivery drone and its valuable contents landed safely on the ship’s elegant wooden deck.
Drone deliveries will continue in the future
Superyacht Supplies emphasized the importance of this successful delivery test to the “Beverage Business”. This shows the huge potential of drone delivery to floating yachts at sea. This new type of logistics is not only faster, but also more environmentally friendly than classic boat delivery.
Further development of drone technology could even enable beverage suppliers in the future to reach customers up to 50 kilometers offshore with wine deliveries in a fraction of the time. The delivery test carried out in Monaco is likely to give new impetus to the U-Space project working on demand-controlled drone services.
