“Game Of Thrones” fans are eagerly awaiting news of the planned Jon Snow series, which will see Kit Harington don the fur cape again and adventure in Westeros as “Jon Snow.” But there’s no word on the project at the moment, so the new father of two, who just had a daughter with his wife Rose Leslie (the Ygritte actress from “Game Of Thrones”), talks about other things in interviews – for example his real name.
Because here there is an exciting parallel with his series character Jon Snow: According to Ygritte, his friend from the Free People, he knew ‘nothing’ anyway, which is of course not entirely true – But the fact is that Snow didn’t know his real birth name for years: Aegon Targaryen.
Kit is not his real first name…
In an interview with the magazine Kit Harington now told the story of how it wasn’t until he was eleven years old that he found out what his real first name was – namely, not Kit! “I actually didn’t know my name until I was eleven. I discovered it at school,” he said.
He had to enter his name on an exam form. “I wrote down Kit Harington because that’s what my parents called me since day one, and the guy came up to me and said, ‘No, your name is Christopher.’” Harington replied that he had to know, but everyone stuck with him to talk. him: “No, no, no, it’s Christopher!” Which is of course true – Kit Harington’s full name is Christopher Catesby Harington, “Kit” is just a nickname.
“And that’s how I found out. Now I love the name – it has certainly served me well,” Harington said of what was a shocking discovery for him at the time.
Before the Jon Snow series begins, season 2 of “House Of The Dragon” comes.
It will probably be a while before we see Kit Harington as Jon Snow again – the spin-off, set after season 8 of ‘Game Of Thrones’, is currently in development but has not yet been officially greenlit and therefore has no start date of the film. Come first the second season of the prequel series “House of the Dragon“. We expect a release in the summer of 2024.
