While F. Gary Gray contributed to the mega-successful action film series based on Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto with “Fast & Furious 8”, the director was best known for his relentless revenge tears and very exciting civilian thrillers such as “A Matter of Negotiation”, “Law of Revenge” or “Extreme Rage”, for which Gray already collaborated with Vin Diesel in 2003 – but less successfully at the time.
The film grossed only $44.3 million worldwide and is therefore considered a complete flop economically. But “Extreme Rage” not only collapsed financially, the trade press was also not enthusiastic: the average ratings on review platforms such as (36 out of 100 points) and (11 percent positive reviews) get a similarly meager 2 out of 5 stars in the FILMSTARTS review. Vin Diesel fans who may not be familiar with the superstar’s little-known film, be warned – this is your chance to fill that hole in a particularly convenient way. Extreme Rage is now available with an Amazon Prime Video subscription:

While F. Gary Gray regularly entertains us with movies like “Straight Outta Compton”, “The Italian Job”, “Be Cool” or the thrillers mentioned at the outset, “Extreme Rage” isn’t exactly one of the highlights of his career. the filmmaker . If you’re hoping for a continuous fire of action, be prepared for a fair bit of laziness, but the dialogues are too flat for a truly gripping drama anyway the revenge thriller sinks far too often into old-fashioned clichésthat noticeably cloud the movie experience.
Our critic Jürgen Armbruster, who ultimately gave it only 2 out of 5 possible stars, praises Vin Diesel, who is not exactly known for his adaptability as an actor, who is not exactly known for his versatility as an actor, yet portrays his role as credible.
