“One Piece” Season 2: What storylines could the next season of the hit Netflix series tackle?

The live-action adaptation of ‘One Piece’ was very well received by fans of the manga and the anime adaptation, as well as newcomers, and a second season has now also been confirmed by Netflix. The first season included 45 episodes of the anime series, although it required some restructuring and drastically cut certain plot elements.

Considering the manga now has over 1,000 chapters (and the anime correspondingly over 1,000 episodes), it can be assumed that the Netflix adaptation will continue at a similar pace and that the second season of the series will also include some arcs of the Straw Hat Pirates will contain. . Here we tell you what adventures the new season of ‘One Piece’ could contain.

Arch “Logue Town”.

After the Straw Hats give the fishman leader Arlong a sound beating, the unusual band of pirates sets off for Grandline. But first she has to make another stop in Loguetown to replenish supplies. In the home of Gol D. Roger, Luffy’s forces become involved in new adventures, because in this town Navy Commander Smoker is in charge – and he is known for making short work of megalomaniac treasure hunters.

Smoker’s appearance was already announced at the end of the first season: he sits at a table, hunched over a desk – two cigars in his hand, before setting fire to Luffy’s wanted poster with one of the smoke sticks.

“Inverted Mountain” arc

This storyline was also announced at the end of the first season. Here navigator Nami is amazed by a strange mountain where water seems to flow upwards. Obviously this refers to Rivers Mountain (or Reverse Mountain), which is the only access to the Grandline for many pirates.

Here the gang meets the lonely whale La Boum, who wants to prevent them from continuing their journey. But not out of malice. The marine mammal has a tragic backstory that will also become relevant to the Straw Hat gang.

“Whiskey Peak” arc

After entering the Grandline, the Straw Hat Gang is forced to take a short break to repair their ship. Before they can even stop at the first island, they encounter some annoying bounty hunters from the so-called Baroque company, who make life more difficult for the pirate group from then on.

On the island of Whiskey Peak, Luffy, Zorro and Co. meet. Princess Vivi of Alabasta, who is in hiding there under an assumed name. There is currently a lot of commotion in Alabasta itself because the baroque group is inciting people to civil war against King Kobra. Their goal is to establish a new state. Luffy wants to help the kind-hearted Vivi and together they set off towards Alabasta.

Arch “Small garden”.

The Straw Hats and their new friend flee from the baroque company to the prehistoric island of Little Garden, home to the friendly giant warriors Dorry and Brogy. But the bounty hunters are hot on their heels and a confrontation ensues. While leaving the island, Nami becomes seriously ill. The cast urgently needs to find a doctor to examine the ship’s navigator.

“Drum Island” arc

On the winter island of Drumm, the crew tries to find someone with the right medical skills to save Nami from death. But Wapol, the island’s former king, took the entire medical staff with him when he fled.

There is currently only one full-fledged doctor on the island: Dr. Kureha. But before Nami can help, the despot Wapol returns and once again threatens the freedom of the residents of Winter Island. Luffy must face the evil ex-king in battle. Chopper, a reindeer-human hybrid who is a student of Dr. Kureha, who has gained a lot of medical expertise, joins the crew as a ship’s doctor.

“Alabasta Bow”

Once in the kingdom of Alabasta, the Straw Hat gang, with the help of Princess Vivi, must do everything they can to prevent an impending civil war that is about to break out. But the agents of the Baroque company want to escalate this conflict to model a new empire according to their ideas. In addition, Sir Crocodile, head of the secret organization, also tries to kill them, supported by his deputy boss Nico Robin.

Only time will tell if the ‘Alabasta Arc’ will be implemented in the next season of ‘One Piece’ or if it might end after the ship’s doctor Chopper has already been recruited. The events of Alabasta are so extensive and complex – for example, there’s a reunion with Smoker and a first meeting with Luffy’s brother Ace – that they should really span at least three to four episodes.

Without the “Alabasta Arc,” the second season would include anime episodes 46 through 91 (Although there are some filler storylines here as well, which shouldn’t be taken into account in Netflix’s live-action adaptation). If the Civil War already plays a role here, another 40 episodes will be added on top of that. The season would then reflect the events of episodes 46 to 130.
