Sony has been making excellent all-purpose headphones for years. It is not without reason that the new high-end in-ears are leading the way Sony WF-1000XM5* almost all rankings. The Sony WF-C500 are a few price points below the flagship, but are still absolutely worth seeing and hearing.
Amazon is currently offering you a whopping 61 percent discount on the recommended retail price of the Sony WF-C500 and has the small in-ears for only 38.99 euros offered. Wireless headphones have never been cheaper.
Sony WF-C500: Top sound and top battery
In terms of sound, the Sony WF-C500 performs very well. Hifi certifies the earphones in the test A sound level comparable to that of the flagship WF-100XM5 – that is an absolute blast and anything but self-evident in this price segment. Whether it’s music, podcasts or audiobooks, you get it with the WF-C500 always the best sound.
The second highlight of the in-ears is the powerful battery. Until 2 p.m Holds a charge – one of the longest battery life in wireless headphones. The Sony WF-C500 can be fully charged again in the charging case. Other manufacturers offer a little more here. But when have you ever been without a power source for more than 28 hours?
The wearing comfort also impressed most testers. The earbuds weigh only 5.4 grams, but sit securely in the ear, even when you move quickly. Three different silicone attachments offer sufficient adjustment options for a better fit. In addition, the sound can be individually adjusted to the shape of your ear via the app.
The fact that the Sony WF-C500 only costs about 40 euros is mainly due to the lack of active noise reduction. Audiophile users will also miss the high-quality audio codecs aptX and LDAC – but that would be too much to ask in this price range. The in-ears also lack touch controls, relying instead on haptic buttons.
Sony LinkBuds S: the noise-cancelling alternative
If you do not want to do without active noise cancellation and high-quality audio codecs, you will find them in the Sony LinkBuds S a good alternative to the Sony WF-C500. The mid-range in-ears currently cost 140 euros on Amazon.
The LinkBuds S are considerably smaller than the WF-C500 and do not only impress with one unit strong noise reduction, but also offer an excellent transparency mode and support for the Sony LDAC codec. Battery life is about six hours with ANC and about nine hours without noise cancellation. Just like the WF-C500, the LinkBuds S are also IPX4 certified and therefore splash-proof.
