Noticed in “One Piece”? This Easter egg proves how well the creators know the template!

Various wanted posters, cameos of famous pirates and mentions of other infamous privateers and places: Easter eggs can be discovered everywhere in the live-action series ‘One Piece’, which point to the larger world of the franchise, namely completely separate from the actual plot Die-hard fans already know it from the more than 1,000 chapters of the underlying manga and the more than 1,000 episode anime series.

However, these allusions are not exclusively of a visual nature, but are sometimes also hidden at the audio level, including in a flashback in episode 1. When we see in a flashback (from minute 18:50) how Shanks (Peter Gadiot) in the windmill village, the wound that his young protégé Luffy (Colton Osorio) itself, a melody can be heard in the background that must sound all too familiar to all ‘One Piece’ connoisseurs. This is an instrumental version of the pirate song famous in the world of “One Piece”. “Bink’s interest”.

And the fact that the song can be heard in the scene in question (even though it only appears for the first time much later in the originals) is of course no coincidence. As we learn in chapter 486 of the manga “One Piece” (and also mentioned in the anime series), Luffy first heard “Bink’s Sake” from Shanks’ crew when he was young.and that’s why the song for him is closely linked to this crew and the place where he grew up and met Shanks.

Using this exact location in the live-action adaptation subtly takes this fact into account and closes a nice circle. This ultimately makes the overall experience of the manga template and adaptation even better and more complete and once again shows how familiar those behind the live series (who were in constant communication with manga creator Eiichirō Oda) are with the source material.
