Stream the cult sequel now: you’ve never seen Keanu Reeves like this!

For several years now, late sequels to sometimes more and sometimes less iconic films from the past decades have been popular in Hollywood and ‘Bill & Ted Save the Universe’ also falls into this category. After all, it is a sequel to the cult comedies “Bill & Ted’s Crazy Journey Through Time” (1989) and “Bill & Ted’s Crazy Journey into the Future” (1991).

However, the new ‘Bill & Ted’ was denied great success, partly due to the niche status of the series, but also due to the corona pandemic. Anyone who missed the late sequel in the cinema (only one day in Germany!) and/or home cinema can now stream the film from another provider at no additional cost: Because “Bill & Ted Save the Universe” is now available with a subscription from Paramount+, just like part 2. The first “Bill & Ted” has also been available there for quite some time:

Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) are still married to British princesses Joanna (Jayma Mays) and Elizabeth (Erinn Hayes), who once brought them from the 15th century to the present, and are married to Thea (Samara Weaving) and Billie (Brigette Lundy-Paine) each have a daughter who looks like her father.

But otherwise things aren’t going well for the planned musicians: their success as rock stars has evaporated and they still haven’t managed to write the song that would save the entire universe. Now they only have a few hours left and Bill and Ted have an idea: they’ll travel through time again to steal the finished song from their future selves…

On power

As they travel through time, the two encounter different incarnations of themselves, including the mega-muscular prison versions in the cover photo above this article. Meanwhile, Thea and Billie travel back in time to put together the greatest band of all time, including Mozart (Daniel Dorr) and Jimmy Hendrix (DazMann Still).

In the official FILMSTARTS review, “Bill & Ted Save the Universe” received 3.5 out of 5 stars and high praise: part 3 is the most complete film in the trilogybecause the film is downright sympathetic, builds on its predecessors in a completely unironic way and brings the series to a successful conclusion.

FILMSTARTS editor-in-chief Christoph Petersen writes in his conclusion: “A sequel that is both late and sympathetic! ‘Bill & Ted Face The Music’ may be pure fan service, but the groupies of the past still get their money’s worth even after a break of almost 30 years!”
