Actor Hugh Jackman (54) and Deborra-Lee Furness (67) are going their separate ways after 27 years of marriage. They were blessed to have had a “wonderful, loving marriage” for nearly three decades, according to a joint statement from the couple published by People magazine on Friday (local time). But now they have decided to part ways to follow their ‘individual’ paths. Her family remains her “top priority.” They wanted to approach the next chapter with “gratitude, love and kindness.”
The Australian acting couple met in 1995 while filming the television series ‘Correlli’. Jackman played an inmate who falls in love with the prison psychologist played by Furness. They married in April 1996. The couple have two adopted children.
Two years ago they celebrated their silver wedding anniversary. “Being married to you, Deb, is as natural as breathing,” the Australian Hollywood star (“X-Men”) wrote on Instagram in April 2021. “Almost from the moment we met, I knew it was our destiny to be together.” Over the past 25 years, the love has grown deeper, the fun, excitement and adventure more exhilarating, and the learning from each other even greater: “I am forever grateful that we share our love, our lives and our family with each other,” Jackman wrote at the time.
