Almost no one has noticed this bizarre detail in a painting from “The Big Bang Theory”!

Mayim Bialik, who played Amy in ‘The Big Bang Theory’, did not miss the opportunity to reveal a detail that went unnoticed by the public for years. This can be discovered in the iconic painting that Amy gifts to Penny (Kaley Cuoco) in the series.

For those who don’t know what this means: In “The Big Bang Theory”, Amy gives her friend Penny a painting to celebrate their friendship. Bialik’s character had the photo taken for a whopping $3,000. You see Amy and Penny smiling. The painting became one of the sitcom’s most memorable props shortly after its introduction into the series’ story. You can rewatch the scene in its entirety here:

Mayim Bialik also has his say in the book “The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story Of The Epic Hit Series” by Jessica Radloff. Here she revealed that there was a remarkable detail to be discovered in the painting that was not planned at all: Apparently Amy’s hand on Penny’s shoulder wasn’t supposed to be in the photo originally. Therefore, it appears significantly larger than normal.

“The size of the hand was absolutely shocking when I first saw it,” Bialik said. “It was really huge. Kaley and I posed for a few photos that the painter relied on, but my hand wasn’t originally on her shoulder, so that was added later. This is definitely not my hand. Every time I look at the photo, all I see is this huge hand!”

Of course, the painting is also used for a few jokes in ‘The Big Bang Theory’ – but the size of the hand is not discussed. The humor of the situation lies in the fact that Penny would like to throw the painting on the street, but she obviously does not do that out of love for her friend. In real life, the huge photo can be found in the office of series creator Chuck Lorre.
