September is photography month, so two photo exhibitions will be presented.
The exhibition “Those who pass” by photographer Tito Herrera and the exhibition “Visual cycles” by photographer Marisabel Medina.
The exhibitions will be available in French Federation of Panama, entrance to the exhibition is free, and it will be available from September 21 to November 9. From Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturdays until 12:00 p.m.
“Those who pass by”
photographer Titus Herrera The problem of migration has been calling him for decades, he has the opportunity to work with migrants through his reporting work, all over the American continent. Especially on the border with Mexico and in Central America.
The jungle surprises many, stops many, keeps many.
“Those who pass by” look at them migrants who achieve the transition from Colombia to Panama, which many call “Worst part of the trip”. Little indigenous communitiesthe previously forgotten and newly created shelters become a resting place for tired migrants, thousands of whom arrive by the thousands every day.
The photographer intends to deeply observe his own border, by passing through Darien. The sample will consist of approximately 28 photos, curated by Alegre Supports.
Tito Herrera was born in Panama, specialized in Photography and documentary video, travel and editorial photography; with frequent international missions.
“Visual Cycles”
“If we lose the ability to remember, would we also lose our personality? I am facing this question and I am coming to the conclusion that a key part of who we are is the result of our memories,” says photographer Marisabel Medina.
“Visual Cycles” is a photographic series that constitutes a introspective view according to mine visual habitscollecting scenes that happened in different circumstances of my life and that, when seen side by side, connect within the same universe,” he shares.
He adds, “These are timeless moments that seem intertwined, which led me to reflection to realize that this pattern is nothing more than my vision reaffirming how I experience myself, through these moments that I don’t remember happening but that I’ve already seen.”
Medina is a visual artist, documentary filmmaker and photographer based in Latin America.
His artistic formation and interdisciplinary profile allowed him to try his hand at short films, conceptual photography and visual narratives.
Her work explores the self-reflection of a conscious being – “mirror photos”are pictures that consist of visions of the world, ephemeral fragments of a person who observes his surroundings in the present with such fascination and wonder for scenes what happens before it.
