Shorten the wait for “Avengers 5”: In the new trailer for “The Marvels” 3 MCU heroines team up

The last time the Avengers met in “Avengers 4: Endgame” was only four years ago, but that feels like an eternity because of the many, many MCU projects that have popped up in the meantime – especially since it’s at least another three years until the next meeting in “Avengers 5: The Kang Dynasty.” Perhaps “The Marvels” can help a bit – because it’s where three of the most famous and popular MCU heroines meet:

Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) from Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau aka Photon (Teyonah Parris) from WandaVision and Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) from Ms. Marvel” are the eponymous Marvels (ie marvels) and are to unite in the MCU blockbuster, which will be released in German cinemas on November 8, 2023.

How and why explained at the end of “Ms. Marvel” already hinted: in the finale of the MCU series, the young heroine unexpectedly switched places with her great idol Carol Danvers when she used her powers. And so it happily continues in The Marvels, except that Monica Rambeau is also involved in the whole thing.

The plot of “The Marvels”

According to the official synopsis for “The Marvels,” the blame for the whole mess is a universe gone unstable (probably due to the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Loki, among others”) and a mysterious wormhole that Captain Marvel is supposed to investigate. Her powers are combined with those of Ms. Marvel and Photon – and a Kree rebel also plays a role.

This presumably refers to villain Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton (“The Handmaid’s Tale”). She wears an interesting bracelet in the trailer, which appears to be the counterpart to Ms. Marvel’s bracelet, which awakened the dormant powers within her. Dar-Benn can also be seen wielding one of Kree villain Ronan The Accuser’s giant hammers in Guardians Of The Galaxy. The Kree are the (supposedly noble) alien race that Captain Marvel lived with long before breaking away from them.

In addition, there are plenty of other well-known MCU characters in “The Marvels”: in addition to Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, there are Kamala’s family from “Ms. Marvel”, Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) from “Ant-Man And The Wasp” and “WandaVision” and Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) and the feline Flerken Goose from “Captain Marvel”.
