Torture horror “Saw X” is coming to cinemas sooner: the first picture shows the main returnees

The “Saw” franchise looks back on an eventful history with nine films – sometimes of better quality, sometimes of poorer quality. “Saw: Spiral”, the ninth installment starting in 2021, received 2.5 stars out of 5 in the FILMSTARTS review and didn’t really get much acclaim from fans of the horror franchise. So is the series slowly running out of breath? “Saw 10” aka “Saw X” should convince us otherwise – and that’s even a month ahead of schedule in the US.

Noisy The Lionsgate studio is so “excited about the next sequel and its test screenings” that the horror film is brought forward in the US: from October 27 to September 29, 2023. It remains to be seen whether this will also affect the German date. In Germany, “Saw X” is currently scheduled for November 30. Fittingly, if you take the torture horror to theaters a month early, it would end in the Halloween month of October.

Why many fans are optimistic about the tenth part of the series is the return of the series’ most iconic character – the original Jigsaw Killer, played by Tobin Bell. The first photo of “Saw X” has now been published:

And the return of Tobin Bell as John Kramer aka Jigsaw also means we get a movie set in the early days of the franchise, to be exact should say “Saw X” loudly between the events of Saw I and Saw II.

That’s what “Saw X” is all about

Ailing and distraught, John Kramer travels to Mexico in hopes that a risky and experimental treatment can miraculously cure his cancer. Once there, he realizes that all the promises were pure fraud to scam the most vulnerable. So the serial killer gets back to work to turn the tables and wreak havoc on the con artists by luring them into his cunning, deranged and intricate traps.

“Saw 10” was directed by Kevin Greutert, who previously directed “Saw VI” and “Saw VII” and was also the editor responsible for editing “Saw IV” and “Jigsaw”.
