Paris in “Mission: Impossible 7”: that’s why Pom Klementieff looks so familiar to you

Ethan Hunt and his team, some well-known characters from previous films, a new villain and his henchmen: “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” has a huge cast. Also new is a mysterious French assassin named Paris, played by Pom Klementieff. Many in the audience will have wondered why Pom Klementieff sounds so familiar The answer: Because you know her from the Marvel Cinematic Universe – only with a lot more makeup and two feelers on her head!

Pom Klementieff has been playing since “Guardians of the Galaxy part 2the character Mantis in the MCU and has also appeared in Avengers 3: Infinity War and Avengers 4: Endgame, as well as Thor 4: Love And Thunder. She had her last appearance just at the beginning of the year in “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3”, which is still playing in many German cinemas.

By the way, an interesting parallel between “Guardians Of The Galaxy 3” and “Mission: Impossible 7” is the question of whether there will be a reunion with Klementieff’s respective character in the future. At the end of “GotG Vol. 3,” she says goodbye to the Guardians to finally stand on her own two feet, but she could very well return in a future MCU movie.

However, in “Dead Reckoning Part One,” her character (apparently?) switches sides and betrays her boss Gabriel (Esai Morales), only to die. However we learn in the film’s final minutes that Paris is alive – so it’s entirely possible she’ll be part of “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” again.

Incidentally, the name Paris is not only due to the origin of the character and its actress (Pom Klementieff is French), but also a reference to the series “Mission: Impossible”. from the 1960s and 1970s (known in Germany as “Kobra, you take over!”). In the fourth and fifth seasons of the series, “Star Trek” icon Leonard Nimoy also played a character named Paris.

But that’s where the similarities end, as The Great Paris of Paris the Great in “Cobra, Take Over” is a former stage magician who becomes part of the Impossible Mission Force and proves himself in numerous missions as a master of disguise and infiltration.

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” is scheduled to hit German cinemas on June 27, 2024. However, the longer the current Hollywood strikes go on, the more unlikely this date becomes.
