Numerous returnees have already been announced for “Deadpool 3” in recent months, which are also part of the third adventure of the snotty title hero. Again now reported, we can also look forward to a very special Marvel comeback: Jennifer Garner will again impersonate Elektra in “Deadpool 3” – the legendary assassin and the love interest of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil.
While it was recently announced that we will see Rob Delaney return as Peter and that Leslie Uggams and Karan Soni will return as Blind Al and Dopinder, the return of Jennifer Garner’s Elektra is certainly one of “Deadpool 3’s” most exciting personalities. After all, she didn’t just play that role at a time when the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) didn’t even exist. Plus, the role has since been recast – playing Elodie Yung in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Marvel’s Daredevil.
Jennifer Garner is Electra
The 51-year-old returns to the role that will always hold a very special meaning to her. In 2003 she played Elektra for the first time in “Daredevil” – alongside protagonist Ben Affleck, with whom she also appeared on camera for “Pearl Harbor”. The two reunited a year later before Garner’s character got her own solo movie in 2005’s Elektra. Garner and Affleck have three children together, but have been separated since 2015. At least now Garner and Affleck could be reunited on cameraAfter all, there have been rumors for a while that Affleck could also be in “Deadpool 3”.
Incidentally, Garner and Affleck would be in prominent company. In addition to Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Morena Baccarin as Wade Wilson’s great love Vanessa, Hugh Jackman must also return as Wolverine / Logan. Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things”) directs, though a “Deadpool” newcomer who should know his star all too well. Levy recently directed Free Guy and The Adam Project – both starring Ryan Reynolds in the title role.
Deadpool and the Multiverse
If you haven’t had too much exposure to the Marvel cosmos before the MCU, you can now Daredevil and Elektra Disney+ look – almost in preparation for “Deadpool 3”. However, you should know that both films not only failed at the box office, but also received only limited enthusiasm from the trade press and the public (unlike today’s MCU films)…
This reinforces the assumption that a multiverse adventure awaits us in “Deadpool 3”. There have been some indications of this in the past – leaked by Hugh Jackman himself, among others. With the effort of Garner, who once embodied Elektra under 20th Century Fox and long before the MCU, there is now another piece of the puzzle that suggests that the third “Deadpool” movie, similar to “Spider-Man: Across The Spider” -Verse” and The Flash will unite heroes and villains from different worlds.
It wasn’t until May that information surfaced that a trio from the “X-Men” films would also be joining the cast. By the way, we’ll see who Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds could actually win for the movie in a little less than a year at the latest: The theatrical release of “Deadpool 3” is on May 1, 2024.
