New Edition Of “The Naked Gun” Planned – With Liam Neeson?

Almost 30 years after the third and so far last part of the “Naked Gun” series, a new edition of the slapstick directed by Akiva Schaffer (44, “Hot Rod – Mit Vollgas durch den Hölle”) is planned. The American director and Paramount Studio wanted to put action hero Liam Neeson (70, “Taken”) in front of the camera, industry portals “Variety” and “Hollywood Reporter” reported Thursday (local time). Negotiations are said to be underway. So comedian Seth MacFarlane is on board as a producer.

In the three films “The Naked Gun” (1988), “The Naked Gun 21⁄2” (1991) and “The Naked Gun 331⁄3” (1994), Leslie Nielsen, who died in 2010, starred as the crazy police officer Frank Drebin. Priscilla Presley also took part. Initially, nothing was known about the contents of the planned new edition.

Neeson (“Schindler’s List”), a Northern Ireland native, has recently been subscribed to action roles, including the ’96 Hours’ trilogy and films such as ‘Run All Night’, ‘Men in Black: International’ and ‘Blacklight’ . . (aeg/sda/dpa)
