The music video for the song “Boombayah” by the popular K-Pop girl group Blackpink surpassed 1.6 billion views on YouTube on Tuesday.
The news about the success of the video was announced by the band’s representative agency, YG Entertainment.
“Boombayah”, The South Korean group’s 2016 debut hit the milestone at 6:50 a.m. in South Korea (9:50 p.m. Monday GMT), six years and eleven months after the quartet released their first EP, “Square One.”
Composed of four members -Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa-, Blackpink is the music group with the most followers on the YouTube video platform in the world.
It has close to 90 million subscribers Youtube and already has two other songs that have surpassed the 1600 million views mark: “Ddu-du Ddu-du” and “Kill This Love”.
The South Korean band announced in September “Born Pink”, their second studio album, and in October they started a world tour.
In addition to participating in the Coachella music festival last April, they have already done something in 2019, but this time as a headliner.
